Job Order Contracting Goes To School Vienna, VA – June 30, 2006 – Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc. continues to see demand grow for performance based construction solutions within the public school market. This is demonstrated in the recent award of three Job Order Contracting programs with public schools. These awards, across the U.S. in different markets and geographic locations demonstrate a growing trend in renovation, repair and remodeling of public schools. The first of these new awards is a multi year Job Order Contract with Dallas Independent School District (DISD) in Texas. Making up a 351-square mile area primarily within the boundaries of the City of Dallas, DISD is the 12th largest school district in the nation and services more than 161,000 students. In addition to this award, Centennial has been awarded a three Job Order Contracting agreement with the Baltimore City Public School System (BCPSS) which serves more than 87,000 students, managing 184 different schools within the Baltimore City area The third award was received for a Job Order Contract program for Los Alamos Public Schools in New Mexico. The Los Alamos Public Schools system consists of seven schools with a total enrollment of approximately 3,536 students. Job Order Contracting is a competitively bid fixed-price indefinite quantity, long-term contract for multiple construction projects traditionally focused on renovation, repair and remodeling, delivered on an on-call basis through delivery or work orders. Traditionally a coefficient is negotiated (taking into account regional needs and differences, specific client requirements, etc.) and is applied to a standard Unit Price Book. "Where we learn is as important as how and what, it is critical to the growth and well being of our communities across the U.S. We are seeing a continuing trend that our public school systems are working towards making sure the environments, the physical world the children spend time in and learn in is not just safe and healthy but also conducive to learning" states David Carrithers, VP of Marketing. He continues, "the demands upon the people supporting school facilities and these learning environments is growing and there is increased need for new ways to get done the many projects in renovation, repair and remodeling – traditionally in limited time frames, when school is not in session during the summer months." Once a competitively bid and awarded JOC program is in place, there is a reduction in the time and costs associated with pre-construction phases. Another benefit is the majority of the subcontracting work to local small businesses, allowing the funds to stay in the local economy. For example, on Centennial’s latest job with a school district in Virginia, 90 percent of the subcontracting work was given to small businesses in the northern Virginia region, many of which were minority or women-owned helping strengthen the local business communities as well. "We are committed to delivering quality work, safely that is on time and on budget," stated Mark Bailey, President & CEO. "We are pleased to serve these important centers of community and learning in three distinct and diverse locations across the country. Our mission is to servicing the communities we live in and raise our families in by doing excellent work for our customers. Centennial is excited to bring value to these important school districts through out the year and in the summer months." -End- About Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc.: For over 15 years Centennial has been a successful national industry leader in construction services supporting government, educational and business facilities and infrastructures with construction projects focused on renovation, rehabilitation and repair work.
